Cribs Fail.

We started Saturday morning with another beautiful cup of tea at Mary's before Paul appeared to take the three of us out for breakfast. He took us to a cool cafe in Langley that was decorated with old toys. There were toys everywhere, including giant Paddington Bears, dolls and toy trains. The walls were lined with pictures and even the table cloth looked like an old fashioned newspaper. The breakfast was also excellent!

After breakfast, we dropped Mary off at her house and headed to Paul and Tammy's house to wait for Tammy to get back from work. Whilst we waited, Paul taught us how to play a card game called Cribs. Confused isn't even the word. Kitty just about picked it up by the end of the game but I have never been so confused in my life! I'm getting confused just thinking about it. Tragic.

Tammy joined us just after 1pm and, after a quick turnaround, we jumped in the car and headed up to the Capilano Suspension Bridge. The bridge is part of a park, up a mountain just outside Vancouver which also has forest trails and walks around the edges of cliffs. Not for those afraid of heights!! Apparently, a man recently dropped something over the side of one of these cliff walks and jumped off the side after it...He obviously died. Not very clever! The suspension bridge was really fun to walk over, its a strange feeling being so far off the ground on something that moves as you're walking on it!! There was someone watching over proceedings who kept giving out notices telling people not to jump or deliberately sway the bridge which we found amusing.

From Capilano, we drove back down into Vancouver, and through Stanley Park into historic Gastown. What we've found interesting about Vancouver as a place is how many bridges there are as you drive around. You literally can't go anywhere without crossing a huge bridge! Gastown was really pretty with red brick buildings and flowers on the lampposts. We found the famous steam clock and saw it go off. After wandering around for a while and taking in the atmosphere, we sat and had a drink and some nachos outside a restaurant as it was such a beautiful day! Whilst we were sat there, we managed to get our portrait drawn on a piece of cardboard by a random crackhead who was walking by, and who happened to be quite the artist. He let us keep the picture so we gave it to Tammy and Paul as a souvenir since there was no way it was going to fit in either of our bags!!

After this, we picked up Mary before heading to Tammy and Paul's for a BBQ. We met Tammy's daughter, Tara, and her boyfriend, who live with them, and were very happy to meet their cat and three little dogs since we miss our own respective animals!

The weather was so nice we sat outside the whole evening until about 10 o clock, when it still wasn't dark. The food was great, we had Caesar salad to start followed by chicken, corn and potatoes. This was accompanied throughout by our new favourite drink: peach cider! Whilst we were having a dessert of fruit salad, Tammy even whipped out the Bailey's so me, her and Kitty each had a shot of that!

When we got back to Mary's, she showed us some photos; there were some really nice ones of her and her husband, Bernie, and their friends. There were also photos of various times my grandparents visited them in Canada and when Mary and Bernard had come to England. I even turned up in some of the photos in England looking hilarious as ever!

After watching some news to try and figure out what's going on in the world, we headed to bed in preparation for our trip to Whistler Mountain in the morning.
