Gin and Tonic time!

Having an accidental extra day in Vancouver was actually a blessing in disguise. We were exhausted from our two full days of activity. Naturally, the first thing we did was sleep! Once we were up we leisurely showered, mooched about and looked into booking some things for the latter part of our trip.

Mary spent most of the morning gardening and watering her plants. For lunch we had some tuna sandwiches and some salad with lettuce grown in her garden. After this, she encouraged us to make the most of our chilled day and got us some blankets so we could lay on the lawn and sunbathe. The weather was perfect, it was hot but not uncomfortably and there was a slight breeze. Mary went out to get a few things and left us to hold the fort. She was very amused to find us still in the same place when she returned!

At about half past six, Mary decided it was gin and tonic time and left me in charge of making them... Luckily I am somewhat skilled in this area of expertise so this wasn't a problem! Kitty and Mary were impressed. And even I thought I did a good job! We sat and enjoyed our gin and tonics before having a dinner of chicken and vegetables.

The day turned out to be exactly
what we needed; we got a chance to relax, book some more of our trip, read our books, and spend some more time with Mary. She loved having us around all day and told us she would miss us once we left. We will miss her kindness and hospitality, she has been truly wonderful over the last couple of days.
