Crossing the border

Today it was time to bid Frisco a fond farewell, it's an amazing city and we were so lucky to be able to live right in the middle of it thanks to the lovely Jeff!

This morning we were wooed downstairs by a smell of bacon and sausages; Jeff had made us a breakfast sandwich feast including pieces of toast with the Virgin Mary on!! (see previous blogpost if this baffles you...) and we filled ourselves up with pork before saying farewell.

Angelo was kind enough to offer us a lift to the airport to save us from lugging our bags from bus to bus!
It was sad to say bye to Jeff as he has been so wonderful to us and is one of the most interesting and hilarious people I've had the pleasure of meeting - hell house shall be missed deeply. Once at the Airport we said our farewells to the lovely Angelo before heading to our flight.

Westjet had decided to delay our plane but decided to not tell anyone until they reached the gate - charming! So we had an hour to sit around searching for wiffy and playing Solitaire.

The flight was speedy and in no time we were in Vancouver BC! We were meeting Amy's mums cousin Paul at the airport but had no idea what he looked like, so as we waddled out of arrivals with our backpacks smothering us and pink faces from the effort of not falling backwards from the weight, we heard someone shout 'AMY!!' and low and behold it was Tammy, Paul's partner!

They had us joking and laughing within seconds making us feel so welcome in Vancouver! On the way out of the airport they were both so impressed with our confession of loving cider that they pulled over and bought us some, wait for it...PEACH CIDER! Possibly the best invention ever!

Once stocked up on booze we headed to Mary's house near Surrey -Mary is Amy's grandads sister - we arrived in a beautiful neighbourhood in front of the most adorable house where we were greeted by Mary with a huge smile and big hug, she is so sweet!!

Once at Mary's we relaxed with a cider before heading out to White Rock to grab some fish and chips! The views are spectacular here and you can see mountains with snowy peaks in the background whilst sat in 26 degree heat! Crazy!

At White Rock we tucked into some fish and chips -I had scallops *drools* and Amy had cod- fish again!?! Very impressive!

After dinner Tammy and Paul dropped us back at Mary's, tomorrow we had a lovely day planned so needed some rest. Once back, Mary offered us a cup of tea... I can't even explain how beautiful that sounded to our ears!!!
Since coming traveling we haven't had a cup of tea - because we know you cant get them like at home. Tragic. It's been literally 6 weeks of hell!! Mary seemed both shocked and amused by our over excitement for tea so got out the whole shebang: teapot, teacups, jug of milk and sugar. We were in heaven. She even offered to give us some tea to take for the rest of our travels! Woo!

Tomorrow we head to the suspension bridge!!

  1. Thank you for the compliment..."interesting and hilarious"...do those two attributes go together? I've been called a "mind numbing pedant" and "completely socially unacceptable" but I will start using your euphemisms instead! Jeff

  2. You were completely unenthusiastic about the 20 types of tea I offered you. Or any of the three tea pots. What gives? Just being in Canada altered your relationship with Tea entirely? HellHouse
