Today we were invited round to Tammy and Paul's for breakfast before they took us up to Whistler, eggs benedict was on the menu - amazing! It is part of their sunday tradition to have eggs bennedict and we were more than happy to join in! It was delish! We even ate it with a cheeky mimosa! Mmmm!
It was a 2 and a half hour drive to reach Whistler so shortly after breakfast we headed out - the views were spectacular on the drive as we wove around the mountains. The weather in Vancouver had apparently been rainy and dull, however the sun had come out for us and today the weather was beautiful!
Our original plan for Whistler was to go on the zip line down the mountain, however we soon found out that this took 3 hours to complete and with us just having the afternoon there we decided to grab a gondola up to the top for some lunch rather than spend the afternoon flying into trees at 60mph!
The journey up was beautiful, despite us all panting from the heat in our steamy gondola the views were stunning! Once up the mountain, we grabbed some food and a peach cider (of course!) before catching the seat lift to the very top- amazing!
It was so strange to be sat on these lifts dressed in summer clothes with the snow beneath you and the hot sun above us - very bizarre! Also really weird not to have ski's on as the lifts are exactly the same as the ones I remember falling out of many times in Switzerland!
The view from the very top was stunning! And I was lucky enough to spot a black bear on the way down!! It was busy rummaging through a bin on the bike route; needless to say I was glad we were up there rather than cycling into it!!!
After a lovely day we headed back to Mary's for Sunday dinner. She cooked an amazing dinner of beef with all the trimmings! You can't beat a good Sunday roast! We were even lucky enough to be able to have a glass of Bernie's famous blueberry wine - delish!!!
Once stuffed full of dinner we decided to get planning parts of the trip we still needed to book, whilst doing this we realised that there had been some confusion on the dates and that we weren't scheduled to be in Victoria until Tuesday - epic fail! Fortunately, Mary was nice enough to let us stay an extra day :).
After six weeks of traveling we have no idea what day/date it is so are keeping a keen eye on our calendars after this close call. #awkward.
