Yesterday was a bit of a write off as we did absolutely nothing significant besides waking up and buying some strawberries... So il skip forward to today to save you the boredom.
Today we decided to visit the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, we are both total museum nerds and who doesn't love staring pensively at art? At the museum we picked up a city pass for $69 giving us free entry into loads of the city's museums/aquariums and unlimited travel on muni transport - bargain!
The museum was amazing and had a really interesting mix of art in all it's forms, some of our favourite pieces were in the collection of photographs taken in Mexico and particularly the ones focusing on the Mexican border. I was also ridiculously excited to find the Chris Ofili piece 'Princess of the Posse' as I've been a big fan of his work since seeing 'No Woman, No Cry' so it was lovely to get up close and see the detail in his work.
After the museum we nipped over the road to Yerba Beuma Gardens to eat lunch, the atmosphere there is really chilled and the sun decided to say hello making the gardens and view of the city a real treat.
The weather here has been very pleasant but it's much colder than everywhere we've been so far. So as embarasing as it sounds we've become a bit used to hot weather so going from 38-40 degrees to a mild 18-24 has been proving difficult, and for the first time since leaving we're wacking on our leggins!
After our packed lunch (we're so cute!) we started looking for somewhere to grab a coffee before going to see a film, this turned into quite the mission as we found ourselves in a slightly dodgy part of town - which was still pretty tame in comparison to where we've been so far - and there wasn't a cafe/shop in sight... awkwarddd!!
Finally we found a Starbucks and I indulged in a coconut mocha frappacino (beauttttt!) and Sparks went for caramel 'macchiato' (standard) whilst we stole their wifi to catch up with you lovely lot!
Cinema tickets are so cheap here - the equivalent to £4/£5 in comparison to at home - so we decided to go see 'Rock of Ages', the film was hilarious and anything with a pet Baboon is good entertainment in my eyes!
On the way out there was a huuuge queue of cray cray 'Abraham Lincoln : Vampire Slayer' fans who were dressed up in vampire makeup and huge hats. Very odd. Amy found it highly amusing as the British equivalent would be something like 'Winston Churchill: Vampire Slayer' I could see it being a hit at the box office to be fair!
Pretty sure you aren't meant to take photos of pictures in galleries.. Also, from the moment 'leggins' was written, it confirmed that Kitty was 100% writing this blog ;)
ReplyDeleteThe sandwich in the second picture depressed me. That is one lousy sandwich!
